New Jersey Inspectors
Education Requirement
New Jersey home inspectors must complete 40 hours of continuing education every two years, including mandatory training in report writing and ethics/regulations, through courses approved by the New Jersey Home Inspection Advisory Committee.
Hours - 40
As a condition for renewal of licensure, a home inspector in New Jersey may earn credit in person or on a live or per-recorded webinar event.

Out of the 40 hours:

4 hours – Report Writing

4 hours – Ethics & NJ Rules/Regulations
👉 These 8 hours are REQUIRED to be taken in person (or committee-approved format)

Electrical / HVAC

Environmental issues

Inspection techniques

Proration (Important for new inspectors)

First year license → 40 hours required

Second year license → 20 hours required

Within 90 days of renewal → No CE required
